Shirley A. McRae, Commissioner
Shirley A. McRae was appointed to the City Planning Commission in December 2007 by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. Prior to her appointment to the Commission, Shirley served as Chairperson of Community Board 2 in Downtown Brooklyn for 5 years and was a member of the Board since 1996. She served on the executive board of directors of the Atlantic Center's Homeowners Association from 1995 to 2009. She has previously served as a member of the Central Fulton Street Business Improvement District Steering Committee, as well as on the Board of Directors for the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Coalition. Presently, she is a member of the board of directors for the Fulton Area Business Alliance.
Shirley worked for the MTA New York City Transit from 1979 to 2002. She was the Senior Director of Employee Programs and Registrations within the Employee Development Unit of the Office of Human Resources.
Shirley's credentials include a BS Degree in Organizational Management from Nyack College as well as Advanced Certificates in Labor Relations from Cornell University's New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
