OFE aims to educate, empower, and protect low-income New Yorkers, so they can build assets and make the most of their financial resources.
The Office of
Financial Empowerment (OFE) is the first municipal office nation, designed to
educate, empower, and protect city residents with low incomes and help them make
the best use of their financial resources
OFE helps New Yorkers manage their finances, link them
to financial education classes and counselors, as well as provides them with
information on how to get out of debt, open a bank account, and spot a scam
through the Financial Education
Network.
OFE also helps New Yorkers get and save financial
resources through programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit through the
City’s Tax Credit
Campaign.
New York City leads the Cities
for Financial Empowerment (CFE) coalition, in partnership with Co-Chair San Francisco. CFE brings together pioneering municipal governments from across the country that have begun to use their power and positions to advance innovative financial empowerment initiatives.
