Model Education: Getting Out and Staying Out

The Getting Out and Staying Out program offers young adults incarcerated in Rikers Island mentoring, transitional, and post-release services.

Program Description
Young adults returning to the community after incarceration are at a particularly high risk for becoming disconnected from school and work.  Getting Out and Staying Out (GO/SO) provides young adults on Rikers Island with transitional and post-release services. The central components of the program include mentoring, and post-discharge services leading to educational, vocational training and employment opportunities.

Eligibility: Young adults 19 to 24 years old, who are being discharged from Rikers Island.
