The CUNY Catch program offers young adults who are being released from Rikers Island the opportunity to complete their GED and enroll in college.
Young adults returning to the community after
incarceration are at a particularly high risk for becoming disconnected from
school and work. CUNY Catch offers post-incarceration educational
services, which include pre-GED, GED, and assistance in enrolling in
college. The program is offered in three CUNY community colleges in New
York City: LaGuardia Community College in Queens, Bronx Community College in the
Bronx, and Medgar Evers Community College in Brooklyn.
Eligibility: Young adults 19 to 24 years old, who are being discharged from Rikers Island.
Agency Partner: Department of
Correction
