RAY O. CARRERO - DIRECTOR OF QUALITY OF LIFE
Ray O. Carrero is the Director of Quality of Life for the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit responsible for the coordination of the Mayor's Anti-Graffiti Task Force, the multi-agency Homeless Task Force to address homeless encampments Citywide, and overseeing efforts to combat illegal dumping and rodent infestations. Carrero works closely with the Office of Emergency Management and other Emergency Units in crisis situations.
A resident of Brooklyn, Carrero began his civic career volunteering in community centers and then working for St. Nicholas Neighborhood Preservation Corporation as the anti-crime coordinator, creating and supervising civilian observation mobile patrol, documenting drug-dealing data, and assisting police in monitoring drug abuse activity. He planned and implemented anti-drug strategies in public and private housing and organized and chaired monthly educational forums for community residents. Carrero worked as a community organizer for the Bushwick Geographic Targeting Task Force initiating a Community Relations Committee and established merchants/business committees to address the needs of the business community in relation to drug abuse.
