Dear Friends:

There has never been a better time than now to be involved in adult education in New York City.  Whether you are a student, volunteer tutor, program administrator, teacher, or financial supporter, you are making a difference and helping to create a brighter future for our City.

The roughly 60,000 New Yorkers who sign up for adult education classes come from all walks of life and from every corner of the world.  They bring with them a wealth of experience and a thirst for a better life for themselves and their families.  They are poets, mathematicians, community leaders, and aspiring entrepreneurs.  I salute their determination and applaud their achievement.

I want to express my appreciation to all those who work with adult learners to help them reach their goals, and I look forward to seeing what more you can accomplish.  To those who are not involved, I encourage you to consider it - your participation will change someone's life.
