Close to Home Recommended Awards
ACS recently released the provider agencies that have been recommended for an award to deliver non-secure placement services to youth placed by the New York City Family Court in the custody of ACS. The recommended awards are a critical and concrete step forward in the implementation of the Close to Home initiative, which dramatically changes the juvenile justice system by delivering services to youth ranging from community-based programming to limited-secure residential care near their families in New York City.

Report on the Abduction of Foster Children from Forestdale, Inc.
ACS conducted an investigation following the abduction of children in foster care from Forestdale, Inc. ACS and Forestdale have taken steps to enhance the security and safety of children/youth in foster care during family visits, and ensure that proper visitation policies are followed.

ACS recently released contract award recommendations to nonprofit child welfare agencies to provide foster care and preventive services to children and families throughout New York City. Read the lists of recommended awards Preventive Services Awarded Slots by Borough (PDF) (Updated Sept. 2011) New Contracts Awarded for Family Assessment Program Intervention The contracts are for agencies to provide a range of short-term, therapeutic diversionary interventions for adolescents and their families who appear at the Family Assessment Program at ACS seeking to file PINS or “Person in Need of Supervision” petitions in Family Court. The contracts will start in October 2010.
