Wednesday's Child is a part of the Freddie Mac Foundation's national campaign to increase adoptions of children in foster care. Each Wednesday (and again on Sunday mornings), a child in foster care who is waiting for a loving, adoptive home is profiled during the evening news on WNBC 4.
Meet Miqel Charming and fearless, Miqel is as sweet as he is outgoing. This friendly preteen is the life of every party with his charismatic personality and penchant for laughter. Miqel is energetic and enthusiastic, popular with his peers and well-liked by adults. He is self-motivated and eager to please his caregivers. Overall, he is a joy to be around.
Miqel is a natural born performer with a confidence on the stage that belies his tender age. He loves to sing and dance and make others smile. For fun, Miqel likes to “battle” his friends in mini dance contests. He also enjoys sports and video games. In school, Miqel could use a little support. He loves math but struggles with other subjects and would benefit from someone who can encourage him with his schoolwork.
Although Miqel has suffered many disappointments in his short life, he remains an optimistic youth with high hopes for his future and life with a new family. He hopes to find a family that is fun who will take him new places and encourage his dream of being a performer. The ideal setting for Miqel is with a patient family who will love him unconditionally.

About Wednesday's Child

Wednesday's Child is hosted by NBC meteorologist Janice Huff, who encourages viewers to call the ACS Parent Recruitment Hotline at 212-676-WISH to learn more about the adoption process.
In April 1999, the Freddie Mac Foundation teamed up with WNBC 4 and the Administration for Children's Services to bring Wednesday's Child to New York City. Wednesday's Child, an award-winning program with a proven track record of success, began in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in 1992. Its phenomenal success there encouraged the Freddie Mac Foundation to expand the program to other cities around the country.
